In the light of recent large projects awarded to 3E in Africa, together with a strong South African market boosted by the various Round 4 outcomes, our Cape Town team has expanded with the addition of 4 new staff, for a total head count of 6.
With this new recruitment, our Cape Town office is able to locally deliver all 3E services in Wind and PV. This new recruitment process included a senior electrical engineer with experience in electrical and grid work for wind farms in Europe, a junior wind analyst, a wind analyst and a project manager, the last 2 being transferred from our Brussels office. And that’s not all, more recruitment is planned for 2016, and at least another experienced colleague will be locally detached for 2 years.
Régis Decoret, Head of Wind says: “Today our Cape Town office is truly becoming an African hub and is no longer the South African office only. Of course we will continue supporting our South African customers, and South Africa will remain the main and the most mature market in the area. But since we are now working for the World Bank in Ethiopia and Lesotho, the Belgian Technical Cooperation in Mozambique, as well as few private stakeholders in Tanzania, Kenya, Namibia and other emerging markets, it did not make sense to continue delivering some of that work from Europe. Hence the strategic decision to strengthen the office and make it our hub for Africa, carrying on its own life”.
