Begin 2017, LRM (an investment company that develops and stimulates economic growth in the Belgian province of Limburg) and the city of Lommel were looking for a technical advisor for the detailed design and the permit application for the Kristal Solar Park, the largest utility-scale solar PV project in the BENELUX. The project of ca.100MWp was planned in Lommel (Belgium). After a tender procedure, 3E was selected as technical advisor.

From that moment on, 3E’s solar experts worked on the conceptual design of the project and guided it through the permitting process. 3E also provided technical support during the EPC and O&M contractor selection, drafting the technical specifications of the project and advised as technical partner during the bidding process and the contract negotiations.

During the construction and commissioning of the plant, 3E will follow up the works on behalf of the SPV and once the plant is commissioned, 3E will still be providing monitoring services and site visits to ensure the project is performing at its highest degree of quality and production.

From the first steps of the development of Kristal Solar Park, 3E delivered a great added value to the project. We are now looking forward to start construction where 3E will continue to play an important role in the supervision of this challenging project” says Luc Driesen, Project Manager.

Participating so actively in the development, construction and operation of a lighthouse project like Kristal Solar Park has been a real motivation for our team, and the confirmation that the Renewable Energy is the answer to today’s energy challenges” concludes Santiago Estrada, Solar & Wind Business Development Manager at 3E.

The construction of Kristal Solar Park starts on October 1st and the first green electricity production is expected in the summer of 2019.
