Mauritius takes a first big step towards renewable energy
3E has been appointed as Independent engineer by French developer Quadran for the Plaine des Roches project in Mauritius. The project consists of 11 Gamesa G58 with 65m hub height , for a total installed capacity of 9.35MW, and is the first utility scale project in the country.
3E will act as Technical Advisor for Central Electricity Board (CEB) and will ensure compliance of the design with international standards and local grid codes, as well as monitoring the construction of the project.
The electricity produced will be distributed to the CEB and will be fully injected on the national network, which is currently powered by diesel and coal plants. The construction site allocated to several Mauritius- based enterprises, will be set up as from this month and expected to be operational by year-end.
