The FLiDAR measurement buoy represents a major break-through for the offshore wind industry enabling dramatic cost reductions for offshore wind resource assessments.
FLiDAR is an offshore meteorological station designed for marine renewable energy technologies such as offshore wind, wave, tidal etc. FLiDAR can measure wind potential up to 200m above mean sea level with an accuracy equivalent to the performance of on-shore LiDAR measurement devices.
FLiDAR is designed to operate maintenance free and autonomous for more than six months in demanding offshore environments such as the European North sea area.
The first version of the FLiDAR floating LiDAR product was successfully tested and validated in 2011 in the North Sea.

Who is FLiDAR?
FLiDAR N.V. is a joint venture established between 3E and OWA (DEME group), to build, service and commercialise a floating LiDAR based measurement device.
FLiDAR N.V. combines the experience of 3E, an independent consultant with more than 10 years of experience in offshore wind measurement and modelling, OWA, a daughter company of DEME, an offshore contractor with huge amount of experience in offshore operations and the LiDAR supplier, Leosphere, the world’s leading manufacturer of LiDAR technology.
