From 6 to 8 November, the smart energy community gathers in Vienna during the European Utility Week. 3E partipates in two Horizon 2020 projects presented during the event: The BestRES project and the FutureFlow project.

The European Utility Week is a platform focused on realizing an integrated and interconnected electricity system and market in Europe. All key players in the smart energy ecosystem come together and discuss European strategy to achieve a smooth transition towards a low carbon energy supply.

The BestRES project

In the BestRES project, 3E and its partners, including 6 RES aggregators in 9 European target countries, are investigating the current barriers and opportunities for RES aggregators in Europe. The project aims to develop innovative business models for integration of renewable energy sources by aggregating distributed generation such as wind, PV, biogas, biomass, hydro, Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and combining this with demand side management and energy storage (more information here).

DATE AND TIME: Tue 6 November 2018 – 13:00 – 18:00: “Aggregators as enablers of prosumers participation in the energy market”
LOCATION: Schubert room – European Utility Week – Messe Platz 1 – 1020 Vienna – Austria

The FutureFlow project

The FutureFlow project links interconnected control areas of four TSOs of Central-South Europe, which today do face increasing challenges to ensure transmission system security. The growing share of renewable electricity units has reduced drastically the capabilities of conventional, fossil-fuel based means to ensure balancing activities and congestion relief through redispatching. 12 partners from 8 different countries are dealing with the challenges of a modern power system where consumers, equipped with state-of-the-art devices, are no longer ordinary consumers, but also produce electricity. They become active players in the power system’s security (more information here).

DATE AND TIME: Tue 6 November 2018 – 13:40 – 16:00: “FutureFlow, Interoperable Platforms and Data Exchange for Energy Services”
LOCATION: EU projects zone – European Utility Week – Messe Platz 1 – 1020 Vienna – Austria
