Last year, on the auspicious day of Diwali (the festival of Light), a framework agreement was closed for the next 3 years between IKEA India Pvt. Ltd. and 3E.
As a global policy, IKEA puts solar rooftop systems on every new shop they build to provide a percentage of their electricity need through solar energy.
IKEA India has major expansion plans in India: their first flagship store in India will be opened in Hyderabad by this summer. 3E is appointed as their technical consultant for the upcoming solar rooftop systems for the shops in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Pune, and more to come.
Kelly Mermuys, 3E’s country manager in India, explains: “We started the project end of last year with a conceptual design for the PV rooftop system for the specific shop of IKEA in Hyderabad. This design was given as a guideline in the bidding process to select the best vendor for Ikea.”
Feyswal Assiandi, technical account manager of 3E, adds: “After reviewing the EPC proposals on criteria like technical strength, financial strength, or references and experience of the contractors, we have selected the EPC contractor for IKEA that will build the solar rooftop installation. We met all four initial bidders during the first round of the bidding process. We are now preparing the installation of the solar system in Hyderabad with the selected bidder.”
IKEA India’s spokesman concurs: “Working with an experienced technical consultant as 3E, that already worked with IKEA in Europe, gives us peace of mind that the best in class solar system will provide electricity to all our new upcoming shops in India”.
Kelly Mermuys continues: “In the meanwhile, we also started up the conceptual design for the upcoming IKEA store in Navi Mumbai.”
