The project objective is to establish a reference basis and policy recommendations for future network codes and market design in the area of ancillary services from variable renewables.
RESERVICES addresses the changes in the future European power system. A high share of variable renewables in final electricity consumption will influence the needs and opportunities for providing ancillary services. The electricity market liberalisation, including market and grid-related network codes, and market coupling, will increase the need for development of an ancillary services market.
The project aims to establish a reference basis and policy recommendations for future network codes and market design in the area of ancillary services from variable renewables. It also aims to create a European harmonised cost basis to design a market for ancillary services provided by wind and solar PV. On a longer-term, the project will promote an efficiently functioning EU single electricity market with cost-efficient integration of variable renewables and increased grid management and system security.
