Omexom in Portugal, part of VINCI Energies, has selected SynaptiQ, the asset performance management (APM) platform developed by 3E, to monitor and operate the solar plants it builds on behalf of its clients. This selection further strengthens the collaboration between 3E and Omexom, building on an established relationship with Omexom’s Belgian entity, which has been a SynaptiQ customer for several years.
Omexom in Portugal delivers integrated energy infrastructure solutions across renewables, substations and power distribution.
The rollout scope covers nine solar plants in Portugal and Ireland, with a combined capacity of 140 MWp, as well as four battery energy storage systems (BESS) hybridised with solar assets, totalling 110 MWh. SynaptiQ will enable in-depth performance analysis and tracking of Energy Performance Index (EPI) KPIs using 3E’s physics-based digital twin model.
As an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partner, Omexom builds solar plants on behalf of its clients and stands behind their performance long after commissioning. That responsibility continues after commissioning, particularly during the warranty period, when the EPC contractor must monitor plant performance and respond quickly to any issue. To do this consistently across its portfolio, Omexom needed solar advanced analytics monitoring software built for the way an EPC contractor works.
Why did Omexom choose SynaptiQ?
At the start of its search, Omexom defined two key requirements for the platform:
- No additional hardware on client sites: SynaptiQ is fully hardware-independent. It connects to the equipment already installed on each plant, collecting data from dataloggers, SCADA systems and inverter platforms through standard protocols, FTP, APIs and SQL connections. Omexom in Portugal can bring a client’s plant onto the platform without installing anything on site.
- A well-established market track record: SynaptiQ has been on the renewable energy market since 2010, backed by 3E’s 27+ years of renewable energy expertise. The platform today supports 50 GW of assets in more than 160 countries. Independent power producers and O&M providers such as BayWa r.e., Engie and EDP rely on it to monitor their portfolios.
Marcelo Magalhães Mota, O&M Manager | Renewables, Omexom in Portugal:
As an EPC partner, our job doesn’t end when a plant is connected to the grid. Ourclients count on us for proper support throughout the warranty period, so weneeded a solution to monitor, operate and analyse the performance of everyplant we build on their behalf. We set three clear requirements: no hardware onour clients’ sites, a strong track record in the market and a well-definedstart-up programme. SynaptiQ met every one of them.
What will SynaptiQ bring to Omexom’s clients?
With SynaptiQ, Omexom will centralise performance data from the plants it builds and track them against expected production. Smart alarms, automated reporting and performance loss analysis will help its teams detect issues early and act before they affect client revenues, making warranty-period monitoring of solar plants simpler and more consistent.
José Luis San Segundo, Business Development Manager Southern Europe, 3E:
EPCcontractors carry real responsibility for plant performance after handover, andthey need visibility from day one. We’re proud that Omexom has chosen SynaptiQto support its clients, and we look forward to helping its teams get everyplant up and running on the platform quickly.
