WiNRG, an International Independent Power Producer based in Portugal, has selected SynaptiQ as the platform to support the monitoring, analysis and optimisation of its 591 MW of renewable energy assets.

As part of WiNRG's strategy for the management, monitoring and optimisation of its photovoltaic and BESS assets in Portugal and Spain,an assessment was carried out of the current and future needs of the portfolio, taking into consideration not only operational monitoring, but also the ability to identify opportunities for improved performance and efficiency.

More than simply monitoring: how SynaptiQ helped WiNRG identifying oppportunities for improvement

The selection of SynaptiQ is based on its ability to transform data from photovoltaic and BESS plants into actionable information for asset management.

The platform enables the centralisation and correlation of operational, meteorological and performance data, providing an integrated view of the entire portfolio. This capability is particularly relevant for a portfolio distributed across different locations in Portugal and Spain for example, with different technologies, equipment and configurations.

One of its key differentiators is the use of Artificial Intelligence and advanced data analytics to support the identification of anomalies, performance deviations and opportunities to improve the efficiency of the entire portfolio.

This approach enables WiNRG Iberia to move from an essentially reactive approach towards increasingly predictive and performance-oriented asset management.

The combination of:

  • historical data,
  • weather conditions,
  • expected production,
  • actual production,
  • alarms and equipment information

enables the continuous identification of deviations and opportunities for improvement, contributing to the maximisation of the overall performance of the plants.

The platform will therefore not only be used to answer the question “What is happening?”, but also to support the identification of “Where can we improve?”.

This continuous improvement approach is particularly important in renewable asset management, where relatively small efficiency gains, when identified and replicated across the portfolio, can have a significant impact on energy production and the economic value of the assets.

The relevance of the close partnership with the 3E Team

Another key factor in the selection of SynaptiQ for WiNRG is the proximity, availability and ongoing support provided by the 3E team.

The implementation of the platform will not be considered simply as a one-off software deployment, but rather as an ongoing partnership between 3E and WiNRG.

Throughout the onboarding process, the 3E team will work closely with the client to support the configuration of the digital structures, data integration, definition of relevant KPIs and adaptation of the platform to the specific requirements of the portfolio.

This proximity will continue beyond the onboarding step. As WiNRG uses the platform and identifies new requirements, the 3E team will work together with the client to find solutions, improve analytical models and continuously evolve the digital structures that have been created.

The objective is therefore to build and develop the solution together with the client, combining WiNRG’s operational knowledge with 3E’s technological and analytical expertise.

A renewable asset performance management platform that evolves with the portfolio

This collaborative approach allows SynaptiQ to evolve alongside WiNRG.

As new assets are added, new data becomes available or new analytical requirements emerge, the digital structure can be adapted and continuously improved.

The intended outcome is to create a living digital structure that does not simply represent the current status of the assets, but continuously evolves to support increasingly efficient asset management.

The combination of centralised monitoring, advanced analytics, Artificial Intelligence and close support from the 3E team enables an integrated approach to renewable asset management.

The key expected benefits include:

  • A single, centralised view of renewable assets;
  • Continuous monitoring of asset performance and availability;
  • Identification of anomalies and performance deviations;
  • Use of AI to identify opportunities for improved efficiency;
  • Analysis of losses and their energy impact;
  • Prioritisation of interventions based on impact;
  • Continuous improvement of digital structures and analytical processes;
  • Enhanced decision-making support for Asset Management and O&M teams;
  • Close support from the 3E team, from onboarding throughout the operational phase;
  • Joint development of new solutions and capabilities in response to the needs identified by the client.

Conclusion

The selection of SynaptiQ as the monitoring and optimisation platform for WiNRG’s renewable assets represents the creation of a technology foundation for smarter, integrated and continuously improving asset management, combining data, advanced analytics and Artificial Intelligence with the expertise of the teams responsible for operating the assets.

At the same time, the close involvement of the 3E team during onboarding and throughout the operational phase enables a true partnership approach, in which the digital structures are built and continuously improved together with WiNRG.
